Hi!
My name is Miikka, nice to meet you. I live in Vantaa, Finland, which is basically the same as Helsinki. My journey into photography started when I was about 13 years old skateboard kid. As one of my best friends Pete was really good at skateboarding, I was the one always behind the camera or mostly videocamera.
A few years later I started reading and learning more about photography and skateboarding changed to nature. That's when I got interested in the rules of composition and more importantly how to break those rules.
2015-2017 were some of my best years in photography. First I met my dear friend Mirva, a cosplayer and all-around great company. Suddenly I was again photographing people, this time without skateboards. We even established a cosplay group with people from all over Finland.
2016-2017 I was studying visual art in Laajasalo, Helsinki, after being a photographer for more than ten years already. During that time I got interested in long exposures. I have never been so much into landscapes and also with long exposures I mostly enjoy all the little details. It offers new creative ways to look at familiar places.
Coronavirus in 2020 offered me more free time than ever before, so I started a real project. Again long exposures but this time with moving/shaking/zooming the camera. Also with those techniques, all the colours get blurred, so currently all my new photos are in black and white.
